Tracking Items Collected During Sampling

During the standard sample collection workflow in the Remote Sampler app, physical items (for example sample bottles) may be collected. This process typically involves scanning a barcode or QR code present on a label attached to the physical item. The data on the label includes a unique id that Remote Sampler can use to track the item from collection until delivery at its final destination.

Every time an item barcode label is scanned in the app (or the item is manually registered as collected), an entry is made into the Remote Sampler custody chain for that item.

The item location is automatically set to specific user’s personal item collection and a record is made of the date / time and the GPS location at that point. This forms the first stage in the custody chain for this item.
