Activating a Device
When Remote Sampler is run on a device for the first time it will prompt for access to location information. It is important that Remote Sampler has access to this information so that it can tag sample data with the correct location. Please tap Allow only while using the app.
The app then provides two options, Login and Activate. It is not possible to log in correctly until the app has been successfully linked to an existing Remote Sampler backend system. To begin this activation process, tap the Activate button.
Note that the completion of this process requires manual approval from a user with access to the Remote Sampler web hub portal.
On the Activate Device screen, tap the Scan button.
Next, tap the Scan Barcode button to activate the device camera. The device will prompt for permission to use the camera for capturing images. Please accept this prompt to grant the necessary permission to the app.
It is necessary at this point to scan the New Device QR code generated by the Remote Sampler web hub portal on the Manage > Mobile Devices page. If you do not have access to this page, please contact an administrative user for assistance.

Once the QR code has been scanned, tap the Accept button to save the scanned data.
The connection data will be shown on the Activate Device screen. The next step is to send a Device Activation request for approval. This can be done by tapping on the Activate button.
The app will then show a message to confirm that a request has been sent.
At this stage, a user with access to the Remote Sampler web hub portal needs to review and approve the request submitted by the device before it can be used. If you do not have access to this page, please contact an administrative user for assistance.
Once a user with access to the Remote Sampler web hub portal confirms that the request has been approved, tap the Activate button once more. The Device Activated indicator should change from RED to GREEN. If this does not happen, please ask the RS hub user to retry the request approval process.
If the indicator is green, tap the arrow button at the top left of the screen to return to the start screen and use the Login button to log into the app and start using working.
