System Overview
Remote Sampler at its simplest level is a remote data capture application that gathers information collected on tablet PCs by users in the field and stores it in a laboratory instrument management system (LIMS). It can also be used to send information that is present in LIMS out to users in the field.
The figure above shows each of the main components that form the Remote Sampler system and where they reside in terms of corporate infrastructure. The next few sections of this document will describe each component of the system to a level of detail that should hopefully leave you, the reader, feeling confident that you are able to support the daily operation of the system. By the end of the document you should gain an understanding of what tasks are carried out by each component, where diagnostic information can be found, and what can be done to troubleshoot any issues you may run into.
